Troubleshooting:

Q. I can’t figure out how to get my iPad into Split View or Slide In, Slide Out mode?…
A. This mode is available on the iPad Air or newer, iPad Mini 2 Retina or newer, and iPad Pro or newer.  If you have a model that supports this mode, follow the steps below:

iOS 12 or earlier:

>>Go to Settings App>General>Multitasking then verify that “Allow Multiple Apps” is enabled. (see below).

If you don’t see the Multitasking option in the General page, then your device doesn’t support this mode.

iPadOS 13 or greater:

>>Go to Settings App>Home Screen & Dock>Multitasking then verify that “Allow Multiple Apps” is enabled (see below).

If you don’t see the Multitasking option in the General page, then your device doesn’t support this mode.

Q. Slide in, Slide out doesn’t work any more after upgrading to iOS 11.  What gives?
A. Apple completely redesigned App Multitasking with iOS 11.  Please refer to the User Guide above for specific changes.  Also check out Apple’s iPad Multitasking support page for iOS 11.

Q. I keep getting multiple “Low Accuracy Alerts”
A. Reboot the device.

• Complete a “Hard Reboot” by following the Device specific guide by Apple here.  Then restart the app and try again. This will usually resolve any GPS issues.
• However, if you continue to have accuracy issues, check to make sure that the device is located in a position that has an unobstructed view of the sky.
• Also make sure that the device is not located near a device that emits a strong electrical field, heated windows are the most common culprit.

VERSION HISTORY:

V3

3.3.1:

Critical Update.

• Beginning with iOS/iPad 17.4 Apple requires all apps to have all users grant access to their device’s motion & fitness sensors in order to utilize any funtionality they provide. AltitudeAlert relies on the internal pressure sensor in order to provide barometric altitude mesurement. This sensor is part of the motion & fitness privacy change and the reason you were asked to grant access to it.

• Due to a subtle change that occured with iOS/iPadOS 17.4, another bug was introduced that caused the NavData downloader to crash when you attempted to download new data. That bug has been fixed.

3.3:

• Updated entire user interface, improving ease of use and readability.
• Fixed a bug when fetching various NavData waypoints.
• Under the hood optimizations and improvements.

3.2.18:

• Includes screen formatting updates for all new iPhone 14 models as well as a minor enhancement to VNAV. Time remaining until the Top of Descent (T/D) is now displayed

3.2.17:

• Finally fixed a bug I’ve been chasing for 6 months in the NavData update engine. Now updating shouldn’t break when a new NavData update is available.

• Made some small updates to the synthetic speech engine when other audio is playing.

3.2.16:

• Corrected a bug that inhibited the ground reset from occurring below 40 knots.
• Corrected a bug that caused the iPad to crash when the NAV Data needs to be updated.
• Add a link to both the End User License Agreement (EULA) and Privacy Policy on the main subscription screen.
• Other small optimizations.

3.2.15:

• Many updates to the Ref Alt – GPS engine. The general functionality and display mirrors the Ref Alt – BARO layout more closely. The biggest change is the removal of the “Man Adj” feature. Now manual updates to correct GPS Altitude errors is handled by tapping the “Ref Alt – GPS” label when the aircraft is level at a selected altitude. This mirrors the functionality of the calibration feature when using “Ref Alt – BARO”. See the User Guide for more details.

• VNAV updates. When “Fixed Glidepath” in the VNAV Properties section, glidepath precision has been increased from x.x to x.xx. Minimum Altitude Constraint limit lowered from 100′ to 1′. VNAV Configuration page navigation has been ‘tightened’ up, eliminating entry errors.

• All in app alerts converted to Apple’s Synthetic Vocal Engine. This lays the groundwork for custom alerts in a future update.

• Corrected a bug that caused the app to crash when “Reset ALL Settings and Alerts” was toggled from the App Settings page.
• Apple Watch support officially removed from app 🙁
• A bunch of behind the scenes optimizations.

3.2.14:

• Subtle updates to the app displays.
• Rewrite of the code that saves and retrieves the NavData. This should correct any issues encountered by some users.
• Other small code updates.

3.2.13:

• Fixed an issue that inhibited some users from saving NavData to their devices.

3.2.12:

• Fixed an issue with the new Nav Data format that was causing the app to quit for some users.
• Mostly under the hood optimizations preparing the app for upcoming updates.

3.2.11:

• Fixed an issue that was not processing Nav Data downloads correctly on some older devices.
• Other minor under the hood optimizations.

3.2.10:

• Updated NavData engine to comply with the FAA’s new data format.
• Now you can access many more waypoint types when searching Published Waypoints. See the User Guide for details.
• Enabled Remote User Notifications so important updates or advisories can be immediately delivered when necessary.
• Apple Watch removed due to an App Store identification bug. May be added back in a future update.

3.2.9:

• Fixed a bug in the NavData download engine.
• Fixed the display interface affecting some pages of the iPhone SE (2nd Generation)
• other small under the hood updates.

3.2.8:

• New App Icon
• Updated Pax Supplemental O2 Alert to 15000
• Fixed Watch Connectivity Problem

• Removed Field Elevation SYNC Button from Controls Tab since its functionality has been deprecated.
• Under the hood upgrades for the upcoming new app, ‘TakeoffAlert’.
• Small UI updates.
• Bug fixes and optimizations

3.2.6:

• Fixed an iPhone bug that would cause the app to crash when downloading/Removing NAVData when ALT HOLD mode is the primary alert mode.
• Some general tweaks and updates.

3.2.5:

• Fixed a display issue on the iPad that rendered the Controls and ALT HOLD tab displays incorrectly when presented with another app in 1/2 and 2/3 Split View Multitasking.
• Increased the timeout timer for Navdata downloads from 5 to 10 mins for users with a slow internet connection.

3.2.4:

• Updated for iOS/iPadOS 14 & watchOS 7.
